About the Course
The 4-Day Fiber Optic Tier 1 & Tier 2 course is an 90% hands-on fiber optic course that focuses more on indoor and outdoor cabling installation, termination, testing & comissioning for both indoor and outdoor based on TIA/EIA international specifications.

Course Objectives
With the knowledge and skills gained, participants will be able to troubleshoot and identify problematic components, both internal and external. Participants will also be able to identify the cause of high losses.

Hands-ON Fiber Optics
Participants will also perform terminations and connections to complete fiber optic cabling installation as performed at construction sites, including installation of internal and external parts.
Participants will also calculate budget fiber optic loss to compare with Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing data as a benchmark.
Participants will also do troubleshooting to find the cause of components failures in the network system and finally make analysis and solutions. Participants will be given guidance & assistance from time to time for practical training as follows:
a. identifying faulty fiber optic components
b. Tier 1 & Tier 2 testing
c. trouble shooting
d. maintenance
e. documentation.
More focus will be given on skill & knowledge in carrying out fiber optic works testing especially in the following aspects :-
a. Maximum loss calculation of fiber optic network
b. The use of OTDR as a Tier 1 testing tool as specified by TIA/EIA
c. Use of Power Meter & Light Source as a Tier 2 testing tool as specified by TIA/EIA.
d. Testing difference between OTDR and Power Meter & Light Source.
e. Analysis of test data, especially OTDR and Power Meter & Light Source test data.
The skills that will be acquired above will make it easier for participants to analyze or troubleshoot when a failure occurs on a computer network in the future.

Hands-ON Fiber Optics Package

(Non-Sharing Basis - 1 set tools & test gear exclusive for 1 participant)
In this Hands-ON SOLO package, participants conduct hands-on fiber optic exercises individually, as illustrated below. Each participant will have exclusive use of the fiber optic hardware and equipment for their practical sessions.
Hands-ON Package DUET 1:2
(Sharing Basis - 1 set tools & test gear shared with 2 participants)
In this package, participants complete hands-on fiber optic exercises in pairs, as illustrated below. Two participants will share a single set of fiber optic hardware and equipment for their practical sessions
