What is Fiber Optics Pigtails? In fiber optics the name pigtail refer to a short length of fiber optics of size 900 micron. One end of the fiber optics is terminated with connector and the other end is left as an open end for splicing or termination with incoming fiber optics cable. The fiber optics short length could be either of Singlemode or Multimode type in which ORANGE color refers to Multimode and YELLOW color refer to Singlemode type. The normal fiber optics short length is between 1.0 meter to 1.5 meter.
